Names, names, names

Dear World,
I have a fairly strange obsession. It developed shortly after I gave birth to Rowyn and since then has become a very odd 'collection' of mine. I collect names.

I love searching for the names of Rowyn's future little brother or sister, so much so that I have a whole notepad document filled with over 70 potential names..and those are only the names that made it through my "final cut".
Mostly I collect girl names because 1. I can't seem to find many boy names that speak to me and 2. My husband has only one boy name that he'll ever consider for our child and there is no swaying that man in any other direction.

I know I'm not the only person out there who collects unique and beautiful names, so I thought that I would share the ones I found with you. Every week I'll have the "name of the week" (Clever title, isn't it?) and I'll post a name, what it means, how it's pronounced and if there happens to be one, a famous person with that name. I will try to do boy, girl, boy, girl but I'm not making any promises ;).

I will start our name of the week of with my very own beautiful daughter's name.

Rowyn
Traditionally spelled Rowan
Variants include: Rowin, Rowen, Rowena
Pronounced: Ro-Wan

Rowan is a unisex name of Gaelic origin that means "little red one". It is also the Norse name of a flowering tree with red berries.
The most famous Rowan I know of (and I swear I didn't know this before I named my daughter) is the one and only Mr. Bean!
Yes, it's true, Mr. Bean's real name is Rowan Atkinson.

Brooke Shields also named her first Daughter Rowan.

And, of course, my baby girl Rowyn Daniella!

Sincerely,
Lea
