Get Fit Fridays

My tip for you this Friday is a very simple one. Walk. I know, I know. You're probably like "uhm DUH Lea, of course you walk to get fit..that's not really a tip." But honestly, how much time do you actually spend outside just walking.
I thought that I walked a lot..I didn't. I would go outside and take a walk maybe once every month or so and think I was good, but really while getting out once a month is okay and better than nothing, getting out once a week or even more than that is FAR better. You'll be amazed at the lbs you can shred and how great your legs look if you just start getting up, getting out, and taking a walk. It makes you feel better too. I get horrible cramps and back pain that, some days, aspirin doesn't even fix. Getting out and walking around has not only made these aches happen less frequently, but helps relieve them also. Walking isn't very tiring either, it isn't intense or hard on you..it's easy, you've been doing it for most of your life.
So get your booty up off of that couch, pack up the kids, and head out for a walk to the park or a impromptu scavenger hunt for your little ones. See how many different animals your toddler can find and identify. Collect leaves, make it a fun activity that you can do together while also burning calories and getting fit. You can make it as fun as you'd like, or if you just need some time to clear your head without the kids for a little bit, have your significant other watch them for awhile so you can just get out and think.
It will work wonders, I promise.

Get Fit Fridays

This Friday I'm going to be talking about clean eating snacks. I am a snacking kind of girl so trying to find a clean snack that will satisfy my salty, crunchy craving is a big thing for me.
So far my snacks are Apples, carrots, and grapes. But those don't really take the place of that familiar crunch of a potato chip or the savory flavor.
Lately I've been eating the crap out of Banana chips.

They're just a little bit sweet, really crunchy and VERY yummy!

Also, I've been eating some lightly salted almonds, which helps with that salty craving.

When I get a chance to get down to the Hong Kong market I plan on picking up some Lotus root and making some of these. Apparently they taste like a cross between a chip and a french fry. Sounds good to me! I miss french fries.

In other news,
I plan on doing the hour of yoga again today at Rowyn's nap time. I'm really excited! I can't wait to see how flexible I get so I can freak out Brennan with my bendy abilities.

Get Fit Fridays

Dear World,
As many of you may NOT know, I have been trying to no avail to lose this mound of unnecessary baby weight that I had gained in my pregnancy with Rowyn. (A tip to all you pregnant Momma's out there...When it comes to HUGE stacks of pancakes and over sized plates of Mexican food JUST SAY NO. The satisfaction of your craving it just not worth it.) I want to lose 30 lbs and fit into my cute clothes again...so I thought you all should do it with me:].

YES! Wasn't it nice of me to just sign you up to get fit also? Not really caring whether or not you'd like to do it, I'll be posting "Get Fit Fridays" every week with a workout, recipe or tip to stay on track.
Don't worry world...in a few months we'll be sexy again and have a nice, firm butt that doesn't want to destroy Tokyo.

This Get Fit Friday I'm going to post a few fat burning yoga stretches that you can do in the morning to help wake you up and get you going. Curtousy of Womenshealthmagazine.com

Down Dog Split

Start in a pushup position, lift your hips, and move into the downward-facing dog pose, keeping your legs straight and pressing your heels into the floor (a). Lift your right leg straight back and up, keeping your right foot firmly flexed (b). Imagine you are pressing your foot into a wall behind you.

Half Crowlift
From down dog split, lower your right leg and bend your knee in to the outside of your right arm as you raise your chest and shift your weight forward. Keep this move slow and controlled. Make it harder: Move your shoulders in front of your wrists, bend your elbows, and try to lift your left foot off the ground.

Knee to Forehead
From down dog split, slowly lower your right leg as you raise your stomach and hips, round your back, and bring your knee toward your forehead, keeping your toes pointed and core engaged. Tuck your chin toward your chest, and extend your upper back forward through your shoulders.

Warrior III

From down dog split, put your right foot between your hands. Raise your arms off the ground and shift your weight onto your right foot as you raise your left leg. At the same time, bring your torso forward until it's parallel to the floor, reaching your arms forward. Flex your left foot, pointing toes down.

Sincerely,
Lea
